2015 Season: Childrens Fun Run on Tues June 16th

Dedicated Website

WOW - We broke the 1000 children running!
1056 children enjoyed the sunshine to take part in this years Fun Runs. The all important school challenge was a close run thing this year with Brynymor having 188 just beating Grange's 161 with a dead heat for third place with Sketty and Mayals both having 110 entrants. Well down to all the children no matter which school.

2015 Season: No 5k Races
After 15 years we have decided NOT to hold a 5K race series. When we started there were very few races on the calendar, even fewer locally and none that appealed to the recreational runner. Now there are races almost every month of the year and we are proud to say we have had some influence in making running so popular in Swansea.
It's great to see the Swansea Half Marathon being so popular so quickly whilst the 10K is still one of the best in the UK. The children's fun runs are still going ahead and we look forward to inspiring the next generation of runners. Registration opens at 5:00pm.

Both the 5K and the Children's fun runs have become very popular, so we are sticking with a similar format as last year for the children's fun runs.

And so everyone doesn't get bored waiting, Dragon Multi Skills and Sport will be present at the Children’s Fun Runs! Their team, along with LC2 staff, will be in attendance to supervise children in Multi Skill challenges before and after the Fun Run… all children welcome to join in!!

Children's fun runs for all primary school years will be held at 6pm on Tues 16th June. Register on the night for £1.50 and receive a medal and a goody bag.

Whitford Multi Terrain - Wed May 27th at 7:30pm. Click here for their website.

The 5K attracts all sorts from first time racers to seasoned veterans. Everyone is made to feel welcome, so there is no excuse not to come and join us. If you're looking to get started then don't worry the course is flat and fast. Have a look at the basic training tips in our info section and don't forget to enjoy yourself. If you're a seasoned pro then you always have last year's time to beat (course record is by Simon Jones - 14min 40sec). If you beat the course record then you win £100!

Pre-register for the 5k by 1st June to save yourself some money. And don't forget to stick around post-race as you can exchange your 5K race number for a drink and snack courtesy of the Junction Cafe Bar.

There is the 1 Mile challenge for the under 15s. Entry is £2 and the race starts at 6:30pm. The first 3 boys and girls win a boardrider pass for the LC as well as their goody bag.

Dedicated day for Primary School Children Fun Runs!

Starting at 6pm are the children's fun runs, entry just £1.50! Nursery and reception years run approximately 75m, year 1 about 150m with the distances getting longer for each year up to year 6 who run about 800m. Everyone gets a goody bag including a free water pass to the LC!

Two Club Competitons!

This year we will repeat our club competitions. As we are a race for all abilities we are offering two prizes, one for the club who can get the most runners to enter and the other for the quickest club.
1) Quickest Club - fastest three runners score.
2) Biggest Club - the club with the most runners that finish the race!

Primary School Challenge

This year we will be donating money to the 4 primary schools who get the most children to enter the day's fun runs.
The school with the highest total will receive £400, the second £300, the third £200 and the fourth £100.
Last year Bryn y Mor topped the rankings with 282, Grange on 218, Mayals on 200 and Sketty on 126. Photo shows Imogen Knill, Maren Williams, Katie Thomas, Marni Thomson & Isabella Cain of Bishopston Primary School showing off their medals and winning cheque (2012) to Grant Howells of the 5K team and Gareth Widlake their Headteacher.
